We are an online community from all over the world. We believe it is time for the Church to embrace where technology is taking humanity and figure out how to be "the Church" in a new way, a virtual way.
'done' with church?
So are we. We don't have all the answers, but we know it's time for something NEW. Come help us figure it out.
The hope is that you found this page because someone shared it with you (see share links at the bottom). If this is the case, simply go to our New Account page and make sure New Age Christianity is the right community for you. Once you've worked through the materials there, simply request the registration password from the person who invited you then go HERE and register.
If you did not come to this page through a personal invite, that's ok. You can still go to the New Account page and work your way through the materials. If, after going through that page you're still interested in joining, just send us an email at [email protected]. Make sure you share as much of your story and your heart as you feel you can in your email. The point of the invitation-only process is to ensure this community is built through relationship, so we will want to get to know you a bit before opening up registration for you. We trust you understand the heart behind this, and we hope you find yourself feeling the same way.
No. Although the reference is intended to be a bit edgy, "New Age" Christianity is not an extension of the New Age religion. The "New Age" in our name is a direct reference to the 'ages' of time that our Father set in place from the beginning. The story of humanity's relationship with God was mapped-out in the story of the stars (Gen 1:14) as signs and seasons for us to understand and walk through.
Ancient man understood that the constellations in the stars, and the meanings attached to them were meant to serve as sources of insight and inspiration for where humanity was headed and how we were going to get there. During this last age of Pisces humanity largely forgot about the story of the ages, the meaning of the constellations, and the biblical connection to them; but that understanding is beginning to return to the consciousness of man, and as it does, it will once again help us find our place in the story.
Yes. We proudly proclaim that Jesus is Lord of Lords, the Bible is our primary source of truth, the Holy Spirit is alive and well today, and many of the other things that people conceive of as being "Christian". However, it honestly depends on how you define "Christian". While we view ourselves as being "Christian", many of those who know us closely have decided that we are not (in their view).
Some might say that New Age Christianity is a new religion. Others might say that it's simply a new denomination of Christianity. Regardless, just as Christ didn't try to 'fix' Judaism in his day, we are not here to 'fix' Christianity. We are here to play our part in the progression of man's story by continuing to move forward, not look backwards. Just and Christ came "in the fullness of time" (Gal 4:4) to build something NEW, we are here at the changing of the ages to build something NEW, yet again. Only time will tell what kind of label this new thing will be given.
(Don't get us wrong... we're not 'anti-label'. Labels can be extremely helpful. We just don't honestly know what to tell people when they ask because their reasons for asking can be so diverse. The best thing we can do is to tell you what we believe, and you can decide for yourself where we fit in your understanding of Christianity.)
No. Creating an account on NewAgeChristianity.org, joining the social group pages, and participating in the majority of online meetings is completely free. We are a non-profit organization, and we do run on donations... for now (just like any other church), but we do not charge any fees for basic participation in our community.
The only exceptions to this format are with conference events (online or in person), classes, retreats, certain product downloads/purchases, and the like. Any time there is a cost involved, it will be clearly communicated and relevant to the occasion (i.e. ticket sales, retreat food and lodging, book sales, etc.).
All the time! That's why it is an invitation-only community; to make sure you have at least 1 other community member to meet with face-to-face whenever you see fit.
Beyond that, we are a growing community that is organically creating 'pockets' of connection in a geographical sense. The more of these pockets we develop, and the larger the pockets get, we will be facilitating more and more group projects and meetings (i.e. conferences, community clean-up days, missions trips, holiday celebrations, etc.). These projects/meetings are designed to be fostered by NewAgeChristianity.org and the resources we create, but will not be generated by 'the mother ship' and it's agenda.
In other words... If you'd like to get together with others, we want to help you do that. As a community member we would love to partner with you on any project, but we will not create a bunch of projects from the 'top down' and then come asking for volunteers to help. Generating ideas and assigning tasks is the Holy Spirit's job. Our 'task' is simply to give Him as many tools as we can to help Him.
NOTE: We will NEVER be building a 'local church' like the one you grew up in. If that is your passion, we bless you, but it is not our purpose. Meetings and projects and activity of all kinds? Yes. Building a bunch of 'local churches'? No.
For a basic introduction to the big-picture tenants of our beliefs, please visit our New Accounts page and view the materials there. As for the deeper things that we discuss as a community, there is no 'one answer' to this question that would suffice. Simply put, if people are maturing in their understanding, then they don't agree with themselves from 6 months ago, much less agree with another human being today.
You will not find a "Statement of Faith" on any of our resources. What you will find repeated over and over again are 3 non-negotiable principles of community that we take very seriously.
All of Humanity is created EQUAL, for we are the Body of God. - We do not tolerate consistent elevation or belittling of one group over/under another. This includes elevation of religious groups over others, and political ideologies over others. The obvious additions of racism, sexism, and the like also go here.
There is HOPE for the future. - Doom and gloom is the standard for news agencies, rapture theologians, and politicians. If you want more of that, you already know where to get it. There is no need for another resource in the world to foster those ideas.
Humanity's physical existence is the POINT, not the problem. - Consistent references to the "depravity of man", the "problem of mortality", the "human disease on the planet", or any other narratives that would place humanity as the great "mistake of history" will only show one's lack of understanding, and nothing more. We believe we are God's physical presence in the universe, and that is why we exist. A far cry from humanity being "the problem".
